Web Site Goes Live

Lyon Films contacted me about producing a new web site that would accomplish a number of things for them. They liked the idea of “cool Flash design” but wanted a web site that was a little more transparent to the Google search engine. Also, in addition to wanting to highlight some of the new services being offered by Lyon Films, their design has to stand out and be noticed in an industry filled with creatives. Finally, Lyon Films wanted their new site to be scalable so that it could grow with them and would be easy to update.

The solution we arrived at for Lyon Films launched today at The site has a basic HTML base, but utilizes Flash elements to add life to the bokeh lighting (being in a visual arts field, the bokeh light effect appealed to Lyon Films, so we made it a main feature of the site design and I used it as a natural divider between the two columns that make up the site’s build). Integrating Lyon Films’ social networking activity was also important to the company so they keep their content fresh by utilizing their built-in blog (inviting comments and providing an RSS feed), and keeping a list of their most recent Twitters embedded in their site and automatically updated. The new site also features the Lyon Films reel (available in full screen) and a good number of production photos with a fun but simple gallery interface. By the way, all the Flash elements have alternative images and/or code so that the site looks the same whether you are on your computer at home or on your iPhone or G1 out on the town.

What Devon Lyon of Lyon Films had to say about working with 6 Foot 8 Media & Design:

“6 Foot 8 carefully listened to our goals, kept us involved and informed at every step of development and creatively executed our plan. We are very happy with our new site and have already recommended the company to business associates.”
